| Splitting 16 notes to two kicks proves to be impossible in heel&toe technique (such as so called "balistic") environment played on an ordinary bass drum pedal footboard. |
|
||||
| One of the reasons is need to lift the heel following the stroke in order to release the beater and catch it with the toe to produce the second stroke. Heel lifting creates loss of balance especially when playing two kicks. | |||||
| RH-RT-LH-LT is the only way this technique can be played. However, that would certainly not produce single strokes but only broken shuffle. It might sound impressive when played fast and many drummers claim "single strokes" while playing it - but there are not. Masked by speed, broken shuffle could appear as "single strokes" especially when supported by single strokes snare work( blast ). | |||||
| Vruk strokes are different as you do not need to lift the heel following the heel stroke in order to release the beater. Drummer leans on vruk finding the balance point while beater rebounds.The rebound with vruk is natural so is the control over timing - many drummers still has to discover this fact. | |||||
| RH-LH-RT-LT is possible to play with vruk and this would produce clean single strokes. This video clip supports that. | |||||
| Triple stroke with vruk is played RH-RT-RH-RT-RH-RT-RH-RT-RH-RT-RH-RT with added accents to produce triple feel. One of the strongest features of vruk is an ability to produce strong accents to your strokes. Obviously you can accent any note but this particular accents are great for triple feel |
|

| Split to two kicks this pattern would be played in group of six notes played between left and right foot. This would produce great sounding triple | |||||

| Performance of triple strokes using any of heel stroke initiated techniques, such as rocking motion or so called "balistic" is virtually impossible.As example, fast players such as Joey Jordison would play heel&toe technique for their double strokes but when sixteen's and triples are in question they would simply play these using ordinary heel up - and Joey is great with those. | |||||
| Another reason is that heel&toe players create the speed between Heel-Toe. This portion of motion is fast. However, motion between Toe-Heel slows down.In order to produce single strokes H-T-H-T has to be performed observing strict timing interval. Rocking foot " lower to upper part of the footboard and then split between two kicks would be enormous timing challenge to just about any drummer. With Vruk this task becomes much easier. | |||||
| Vruk technology enables performance of lightning fast double strokes. Many drummers would believe that this is heel&toe technique. Far from it. There is no heel&toe here. Strokes are played using unique vruk pressure strokes technique.Heel&toe is simply too much work, too many unnecessary movements. |
|
||||
| Vruk pressure strokes technique is art of beater rebound. The important factor here is to finely tune the weight of beater head and spring tension in order to achieve the optimum beater rebound which would cary all speed and power you need. The key technique factor is to finely tune the weight exchange between vruk and footboard. The main rule is " on the stroke - weight on the footboard, on the rebound- weight on vruk ". | |||||
| Mr Vruk calls these strokes "weightless strokes". " Leave the slightest weight on the footboard and beater simply dies under your foot " Mr Vruk 2004 | |||||
| IMPORTANT: Notice that beaters do not remain in the drum head. Vruk technique involves "beater out of the drum method" which is followed by majority of top drummers . JoJo Mayer famously said " The difference is like BOOOM and BOINK". Jojo Mayer 2003 | |||||
| Leaning on the beater simply kills the momentum. It is however quite difficult to rewrite your muscles to free the beater on the stroke and play "backward power" | |||||
| THE MIGHT OF KODO | |||||
| Vruk Corporation apologies to drummers for the sound quality in this video clip. It was simply caused by mistake in sound compression and Mr Vruk refused to play it for the second time". | |||||
| " You do not paint over the painting just because the paint is of bad quality. Movement of the brush shows the painter, not the quality of the paint. The Might of Kodo stays as is" Mr Vruk 2008 | |||||
| This clip shows the power of vruk where even the most complex strokes are played with no effort at all. | |||||
| Note: Mr Vruk does not endorse Roland or any other drum product. Yamaha pedals and Roland V-Drum are used simply as a matter of choice- not for the purpose of endorsing. | |||||
